See, This is Just Insulting

images (1)Don’t worry, I don’t plan to make a habit of just posting links and complaining about them, but this really is stupid.  I was never particularly an avid reader of the Miss Marple books, but still, this really is stupid (did I say that already?)

Another one of Hollywood's "brilliant" ideas.

I don’t know if I should be more insulted as a book lover or a soon-to-be old person.

What’s next: “Okay, we’re remaking Moby Dick, except instead of a grizzled old sea captain, he’ll be a sixteen-year-old pop star, and instead of a whale, he’ll be chasing a hot female half-vampire/half-werewolf.  At the end they’ll have a dance-off or something.  Can’t miss.”

Hollywood, leave the literary world alone unless you commit to doing justice to the works you coopt.  Please.

What do you think?  Am I overreacting?  Would you go see this movie?

  1. Are they going to call it "Marple Begins?" I agree that all these reboots are getting to be tedious. Are they that out of ideas that the only thing they can do is keep revamping the same characters endlessly? Enough!

  2. I'm with you 100%.

It's a reflection of today's society. Everything has to be "young" and "hip" and "edgey". That's what sells.

    It bothers me too.

  4. Has Nancy Drew been done already>? That might have been a better idea.

  5. That is just stupid!

There is an itv series with a much young woman already and I hate it!

One of the reasons why Miss Marple is so good is because she is an old lady whom the murderer underestimates and ignores. Everyone sees Garner coming for miles!

  6. I don't think you're overreacting, and I definitely won't be going to see this movie. Not that I ever read a lot of Miss Marple either, but I'm rather annoyed with Hollywood and their constant remakes/revamps/reboots.

Can't they leave what's already been done alone and try to come up with something else? Or are they really THAT out of ideas?

Also, your Moby Dick example is SO funny. I'm still giggling :)
